{"id":691,"date":"2014-06-11T03:47:37","date_gmt":"2014-06-11T03:47:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pnwhistorians.org\/guild\/?p=691"},"modified":"2017-05-24T18:42:13","modified_gmt":"2017-05-25T02:42:13","slug":"hike-the-iron-goat-trail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pnwhistorians.org\/guild\/index.php\/hike-the-iron-goat-trail\/","title":{"rendered":"Hike the Iron Goat Trail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Hiking the Iron Goat Trail<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Twelve Guild members, family, and friends hiked part of the Iron Goat Trail on Saturday, July 26th, along the historic route of the Great Northern Railroad. \u00a0We hiked from Wellington, site of the deadliest rail accident in American history, to the interpretive center at Scenic where trains from east of the Cascades stopped to refuel and re-water and allow passengers to disembark at the resort there. \u00a0Judy Bentley interpreted the hike, a chapter in <em>Hiking Washington\u2019s History<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Some unanswered questions: \u00a0Are parts of the train that was swept off the tracks still at the bottom of the Tye River ravine?
