Holger Christensen life is told in\u00a0<em>Sea Travel: Memoirs of a\u00a0 20th Century Master Mariner.\u00a0<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em>His too is an active life on the high seas.\u00a0 The program will in Room 1 on the 4th Level of the Central Library beginning at 6pm.\u00a0 Copies, as above, will be available.\u00a0 The program is jointly sponsored by the Guild and Special Collections.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #339999;\"> <strong>Guild Board<\/strong><\/span><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The board has added three new members.\u00a0 Paula Becker will be known to members for her work on HistoryLink and her books on the AYPE and Century 21 fair.\u00a0 Julia Swan\u2019s spare time is MOHAI\u2019s gift to the Guild.\u00a0 Casey McNerthney is a journalist and popular blogger who is also joining the Board.\u00a0 He takes over the website from Robert Ketherside who is retiring<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #339999;\">Four Events for Those Interested in PNW History<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>The 2012 Pacific Northwest History Conference, \u201cFrom Civil War to Civil Rights\u201d and associated workshops, will take place Oct. 19 and 20 at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma.\u00a0 The program begins at 9am Friday.\u00a0 The event website is\u00a0<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonhistory.org\/heritageServices\/conferences.aspx\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">http:\/\/www.washingtonhistory.org\/heritageServices\/conferences.aspx<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Historic Society of British Columbia French-speakers will be visiting a National Historic Site in North Vancouver, B.C. \u2013 Saint Paul\u2019s Indian Church at the site of the Sacred Heart \u00a0Mission founded in 1863 by Father Leon Fouquet of France. \u00a0The group will meet Saturday September 22 at 10:00 in front of the St. Paul\u2019s Church located at 424 Esplanade St. W. North Vancouver for a guided tour (in French). The cost is $15.00 for members, and $25.00 for non-members. The conference theme is related to the National History Day topic and we hope to encourage younger historians to present papers and attend.\u00a0 This fall we will be adding content to the webpage about the conference and we hope our members will encourage students and teachers they know to get involved.\u00a0 Despite being free, most of the features\u00a0 of past conferences will be retained.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a test excerpt.
