Karyl Winn worked as a librarian/archivist in the University of Washington Libraries for 42 years, serving many researchers, including members of the PNWH Guild. As Curator of Manuscripts, she expanded the holdings of papers of community leaders and residents, worked with her staff to prepare papers for use by researchers, and assisted users in searches for source material. She was active in the Society of American Archivists and helped found its Congressional Papers Roundtable, Northwest Archivists and Seattle Area Archivists. She was also an avid hiker and climber, gardener, and bicycle tourist. She served as a docent at the Volunteer Park Conservatory and as a trustee for the Alpine Lakes Protection Society.
Winn received the Guild award in 2004. She died on May 20, 2017.
