If you’re planning to attend this year’s conference, why not consider volunteering as well? Volunteers help to make the conference a real success by meeting and greeting attendees, assisting workshop/session speakers and managing busy information and resource areas.

There are many ways to help and time slots are flexible and convenient— you can volunteer before, between or during sessions.
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, get connected and give something back to our organization.

The various types of volunteers needed during conference and the responsibilities for each volunteer assignment are explained below.

Conference Volunteer Job Descriptions

Registration/Information Table: Registration volunteers will assist attendees when they arrive, checking people in who have pre-registered and handling those who will need to register at the door or arrive late. Volunteers will help orient attendees and make sure that everyone gets their conference packets and name tags.

Set-up and Take Down Helpers: Volunteers are needed to assist Seattle Center staff, Guild board members and speakers distribute materials, prepare rooms for presentations and at the end of the day make sure everything not belonging to Seattle Center is collected and cleaned up. Set up begins at 8:00am. Don’t worry – we’ll have coffee!

Session Moderators: Moderators will assist speakers with room and AV set-up, will introduce speakers at the beginning of the session and wrap-things up at the end, summarizing what was said and guiding the question and answer portion. An important task for session moderators is keeping everyone on schedule.

If you are interested in volunteering at the Pacific Northwest Historians Guild conference in May, please email Conference Coordinator Sarah Frederick.
